Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the first part of Zack Snyder’s anticipated sci-fi saga “Rebel Moon.” Titled “A Child of Fire,” the film is set to premiere on December 22, 2023. The second installment, “The Scargiver,” is scheduled for release on April 19, 2024.
The story revolves around a mysterious young woman named Kora (Sofia Boutella), residing on a peaceful colony at the galaxy’s edge. As the ruthless ruler Regent Balisarius (Fra Free) threatens the colony, Kora becomes their last hope for survival. She gathers a diverse group of fighters to stand against the oppressive force. The movie features a range of sci-fi and fantasy elements, from prophecies and lasers to talking robots and mythical creatures.
The star-studded cast includes Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, and more. Snyder originally conceived the concept within the “Star Wars” universe before reshaping it as an original project, influenced by his love for “Star Wars” and Akira Kurosawa films.
Directed by Zack Snyder and co-written by Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, “Rebel Moon” is produced by The Stone Quarry and Grand Electric. Following Snyder’s successful collaboration with Netflix on “Army of the Dead,” the film aims to become a new franchise for the streaming platform.
