Splendid Films has announced the highly anticipated release of their latest cinematic gem, “Goldfish.” The heartwarming film is all set to captivate audiences as it graces theatres in multiple cities across India and the USA on August 25th, 2023. Directed by Pushan Kripalani, this Indian-British-American production features a stellar cast, including the enigmatic Deepti Naval and marking Kalki Koechlin’s return to the big screen after a four-year hiatus.

 

“Goldfish” is an emotional journey set in the heart of London, exploring themes of memory, music, mental health, and identity. The story revolves around Anamika (Kalki Koechlin), the product of a mixed marriage, who finds herself returning to her estranged mother Sadhana (Deepti Naval) as Sadhana battles the onset of dementia. Anamika steps back into a neighborhood she barely remembers, now greeted by a mother who sometimes fails to recognize her own daughter.

 

The film promises to deliver a soul-stirring narrative with refreshing performances, led by the powerhouse talents of Deepti Naval, Kalki Koechlin, and Rajit Kapur. Joining them are some extraordinary actors from the United Kingdom, including Bharti Patel, Gordon Warnecke, Ravin Ganatra, and Shanaya Rafaat, who collectively bring to life a delicate and timeless tale of a mother and daughter, as well as the significance of community.

 

Anurag Kashyap, the renowned filmmaker, expressed his enthusiasm about presenting “Goldfish” to the Indian audience. Having been deeply moved by the film’s brilliance when he saw it at the Busan International Film Festival, Kashyap praised the exceptional performances and nuanced direction.
